Uhhh, this story is 11 YEARS OLD! Why is someone bumping stories that are over a decade old? Is there no new news to report?

Are You More Of A Spiritual Person Since Leaving The "Truth"?
by minimus ini don't think i'm more of a spiritual person now..

I will say this, I've never in my life read so much and studied so much, until after I left the BORG. Spirituality is something the J-dubs talk about and base on reading the Watchtower and awake mags, which is written by FALSE PROPHETS KNOWN AS THE GOVERNING BODY.
Their reverse psychology worked! Their will was to get you to grow spiritually, to examine different paths, and have your eyes opened, as it were...
(Or NOT: they may have just been a group obsessed with controlling weaker individuals who allows themselves to be controlled by others. Not surprisingly, that also would be ideal training grounds for pedophiles, who share similar desires....).

Why do people pretend good things about Jesus ?
by mP inive had a few discussions both here and in real life and often find people excuse the ot with all its vile, violence and only concentrate on jesus because he was good.
i try and assk them to show me an example and they of course they quickly tell us about the miracles, and thats fine.
however when you ask them about slavery, violence, women and so on they make excuses.

His message is one of equality among all people both great and small.
Uh, as long as those people are Xians (heathens need not apply).
EP: he just happens to sometimes wish to punch people and drive nails into them, you know, peaceful until he's not.
This is out of context. EP is just trying to smear me.
Uh, you just conclusively proved that you have no idea what "out of context" means, so don't say it again, until you figure it out, M'kay? (My patience is tried by little tiny babies and people's stoopidity (sic)).
I am not what EP portrays, he's just mad I won the debate about God with him. It took about a year, but I won.
Arguing with a fundamentalist is like playing chess with a pidgeon: it poops all over the board, makes it's own rules and knocks over pieces, and then flys back to the roost to strut in front of the other pidgeons as if it won.

EP said:
Jesus loved his neighbors so much he killed 2000 of their pigs by allowing a demon HE expelled to enter into the pigs and run off a cliff. Didn't even compensate the man.
Good job, asshole. He could have ordered the Legion into something like ants, but no, why not a man's livestock, his food and livelihood.
Jackass...
Ahhh, but you're forgetting that it was a herd of SWINES, unclean and unholy animals to Jews, who were forbidden to raise (let alone eat) them. The clear implication is the herd belonged to some pagan-worshipping Gentile, so wiping them out represented no harm, no foul, no skin off any Jew's nose.
Seen from the eyes of anyone but those apologetists compelled to perform acts of obeisance and OCD-like bowing at the mere mention of his name, Jesus looks more and more like someone who displayed a pattern of engaging in wanton acts of vandalism (remember the turning of the money tables incident?), destruction of property, public nuisancy, disorderly conduct, all from being filled with the piss, vim, and vigor of a.... dare I say it? A righteous Xian?
Unfortunately for Jesus, the Romans didn't take such acts of vandalism lightly (contrary to the attitude depicted in "The Life of Brian", where the Romans simply made him clean up the graffiti he wrote with a brush). They gave him a death sentence for his nasty habit of engaging in such pranks with his merry band of Jewish disciples: such was the fate of a Jewish under-class, living in a conquered land occupied by the Romans, in a time of widespread brutality and devaluation of human life.

TEC says:
a) Because the pen can be added to, mistranslated, and also misunderstood in subsequent copies. Some would hoard those writings and use them for their own ends. Some would seek to destroy them. In essence though, such a writing would become a weapon... as many have used the bible as a weapon to justify all sorts of atrocities that they claim to do in God or Christ's name.
Soooo, God is omnipotent, with Him all things are possible, there is nothing He cannot do.*
(*God's omnipotence is not literally 'unlimited', like some people may think, but includes being powerless against forgery, transcriber errors, and, iron chariots (see Judges 1:19)
Aww, I'll look it up for ya'. Here it is:
Judges 1:19
"The LORD was with the men of Judah. They took possession of the hill country, but they were unable to drive the people from the plains, because they had iron chariots."

"Christ did make a statement. By NOT keeping slaves, Himself."
Who needs slaves, when you have disciples? The WT learns from the best, with "volunteer labor"

"Thanks for posting this, very interesting. In the Watchtower's defence the document does say twice that the society 'does not support either party in this case'"
Then why bother filing a legal opinion? That's typical double-talk, as it's not like the SCOTUS didn't know what an amicus brief is, or was asking WT to serve as a Judge... <rolleyes>
WT was NOT a defendant in the case, but tried to influence Satan's evil system of things by befriending it.. If a JW publisher is asked about their opinion (let alone offers it unsolicited!) they face DFing....

the new heavens and the new earth...
by rather be in hades in...is here today.. rev 21:1-4 = then i saw a new heaven and a new earth,[a] for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.2 i saw the holy city, the new jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from god, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.3 and i heard a loud voice from the throne saying, look!
gods dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them.
they will be his people, and god himself will be with them and be their god.

Yeah, it's literal, but it's figurative. I think the rule is it's "figurative on Fridays", which is today: there ya' go!

And those who hold these beliefs will make fun of those who hold similar beliefs, eg I was talking to a xian yesterday who snickered about the funny beliefs of Scientologists, with their silly eMeters which can heal disease, etc. Nevermind that he believes that Jesus granted him with the power to heal via touch....
Delusion is a power force, a desire for things to be as you'd like them to be, not as they are. Since your brain cannot change reality, it does the next-best thing: it makes your perception fit your desire.

Lol! I link to bible scripture, even though I believe it to be the word of men aka mythologists: should I not do that, either? ;)
